Documentation Scope Focused on practical product use after purchase and deployment.

Installation Provided by Company

Installation is handled by the company for the purchased standalone license. The customer provides the required hosting and access details, and the company completes the deployment so the product is ready for admin login and first edition publishing.

What the company installs

  • E-Paper CMS application files
  • Database tables and default records
  • Upload folders for editions, hotspots, page clips, media, and settings assets
  • Admin login access
  • License connection for the purchased domain

What is confirmed after installation

  • Admin panel opens correctly from the installed domain
  • Public homepage and edition viewer load correctly
  • Settings can be saved from the admin panel
  • Upload flow is ready for PDF, JPEG ZIP, or SVG ZIP editions
  • Footer, branding, and product metadata are available in the frontend

Setup

After installation, complete the main setup from the admin panel. The setup controls are grouped under Settings and shape how the public site, reader, edition categories, sharing tools, and user access work.

  1. Login to the admin panel.
  2. Open Settings and review the General section for site identity and base information.
  3. Open Categories to create the main edition categories or locations used by the homepage and archive.
  4. Open Viewer to choose reader behavior, PDF/JPEG modes, hotspot display, clip behavior, and mobile/desktop toolbar modes.
  5. Open Contact, Social, and Footer to set public contact and footer information.
  6. Save settings and check the public homepage and a test edition page.

Admin Setup

The admin area is the control center for the system. It includes Dashboard, Upload Edition, Upload SVG Edition, Recent Editions, All Editions, Pages, Media, Analytics, User Management, Profile, and Settings.

User roles

  • Admin: can manage settings, users, categories, analytics, and all editions.
  • Editor or non-admin user: can work with assigned publishing areas and edition content based on permissions.

Recommended admin setup order

  • Create or update administrator profile details.
  • Create publishing users if multiple staff members upload editions.
  • Create categories or edition places before uploading regular editions.
  • Configure branding and sharing before public launch.

Publishing

Publishing is built around editions. An edition represents one newspaper, magazine, or e-paper issue. Each edition can contain multiple pages, public metadata, a category, and interactive hotspots.

  • Today editions: editions dated for the current day can be shown on the homepage depending on homepage settings.
  • All editions: the archive can show older published editions.
  • Categories: editions can be organized by main category, place, or subcategory.
  • Scheduling: editions can be prepared with publish date and time settings where enabled.
  • Status control: editions can be active, inactive, processing, scheduled, or failed depending on the upload and publishing state.

Edition Publishing Guide

The script supports multiple edition sources so publishers can use the workflow that best fits their production process.

PDF edition

  1. Open Upload Edition.
  2. Enter edition title, date, description, and category.
  3. Upload the PDF file.
  4. The system stores the source file and processes pages for the reader.
  5. After processing, open the edition from Recent Editions or All Editions.

JPEG ZIP edition

  1. Create a ZIP containing page images in JPG or JPEG format.
  2. Upload the ZIP from Upload Edition.
  3. The system extracts pages in natural page order.
  4. The first page is used as the cover where available.
  5. Review the edition and add hotspots if needed.

SVG ZIP edition

  1. Open Upload SVG Edition.
  2. Upload a ZIP containing SVG page files.
  3. The system saves SVG pages and creates JPEG previews when available.
  4. A cover image can be uploaded or generated from the first page.
  5. Use the normal reader and hotspot tools after upload.

Edition management

  • Use Recent Editions for the latest uploads.
  • Use All Editions for full archive management.
  • Edit title, date, category, description, and status when required.
  • Delete only when the edition and related page or hotspot assets are no longer needed.

Hotspot Guide

Hotspots are clickable areas placed over edition pages. They can open links, clips, video, audio, images, HTML content, contact actions, or OCR-related content depending on the configured fields.

  1. Open an edition from Recent Editions or All Editions.
  2. Click the hotspot/editor action for the edition.
  3. Select the page number.
  4. Add a hotspot manually by drawing on the page or using position buttons such as top, bottom, left, or right.
  5. Drag the hotspot to align it with the printed content.
  6. Resize with the visible handles.
  7. Open hotspot properties and enter the title, link, media, video, audio, image, HTML, style, or OCR details needed for that hotspot.
  8. Save hotspots for the page.

The hotspot editor also supports selecting hotspots, copying and pasting hotspot boxes, removing individual hotspots, clearing page hotspots, and saving position hotspot templates for repeated layouts.

Sharing and Download Guide

The frontend reader includes sharing and download controls for editions, pages, hotspots, and page clips. These controls are configured from Settings and rendered in the public viewer.

Available share buttons

  • WhatsApp
  • Facebook
  • Twitter/X
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn
  • Telegram
  • Email
  • Download

Clip and download behavior

  • Hotspot clips can open in a new tab or popup based on Viewer settings.
  • Page clips can include an HTML header/footer around the clip.
  • Generated clip images can include a merged header and footer.
  • Footer lines can include edition name, category, date, page number, website, mobile number, and powered-by details.
  • Download quality and clip border styling are controlled from Viewer settings.

Branding

Branding controls how the public site, reader, category pages, footer, and clip outputs look. Global branding is set in Settings, while category or place branding can override selected visual details where used.

  • General branding: site name, description, identity details, and homepage presentation.
  • Logo assets: header logo, footer logo, favicon, and banner image.
  • Colors: header color, footer color, text colors, background color, and button-related colors.
  • Footer: footer text, address, contact details, copyright text, developer name, and developer URL.
  • Clip branding: hotspot/page clip headers, footers, footer line visibility, typography, and merged image footer style.
  • Product credit: the footer includes a light WPWebsmartz product credit link while customer footer customization remains available.
